Wakiso Secondary schools Regional football championship kicks off on Monday April 8th at different venues around Naddangira zone, this championships is expected to climax on Sunday April 14th with the best six teams will qualify for the 2024 national championship that will be held in Teso region at Bukedea Comprehensive ss Amus College in May this follows the group stage draws that were held on Friday April 5th at the region headquarters WAKISSHA Resource Centre in Wakiso, Giants are targeted by rising forces.

Wakiso region giants are still in driving sit as per the matchday two ended on Tuesday evening.

Katamba Gerard WAKISSHA Sports committee chairman expects his region to produce good representatives who will keep Wakiso region flag up at the national championship and defend the title, saying that.

“We are witnessing good football here, the competition is stiff this time around compared to the previous ones.

“Our schools are no longer presenting ineligible players and the boys are good which will gives us good representatives at the end of the championship.” Said Katamba.

Meanwhile number of 32 teams at the Championship were pitted in four groups that are comprises of 8 teams in each. The defending champions Buddo SS were seeded in group A along with Andy Mwesigwa Education school, Aiden College Ndejje, Zana Mixed
, Kisubi Mapeera, Kajjansi Progressive, St James and Kasangati High School.
With no doubt Buddo SS is a giant school in boys Football and AMESCO was among the regional representative at the USSSA Nationals last year.
In other groups emerging forces Madina Islamic and the group seed number one, Standard High School Zzana are drawn in group C along with Kangulu High School Bombo, Divine ss Wakiso, Kawempe SS, St Jonah and Answar Moslem completing the group.

In group D giants, St Mary’s Boarding S S Kitende was seed with Greenlight Islamic SS, Boston High School, Kasule High, God’s Care High School, St Michael International, Central College and St Mary’s Kasokoso.

Besides group A, C and D which are thought to be highly competitive, group B also looks tough because it has London College Nansana who are always stubborn to the opponents, Kawanda SS who always looks good, Kyadondo SS, Entebbe SS, St. Charles Lwanga, City Land, Kawanda SS and Namboole High while Spire is in as a surprise package.
