The first lady who doubles as the minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni has welcomed the She Cranes team in state house at Nakasero.
The contingent that arrived in the country at around 2:00 pm on Tuesday 23rd July came back with all the players who took participated in this years Netball World held in Liverpool, apart from the team captain Peace Proscovia who crossed straight to Australia where she trades her netball.
The first lady praised the performance displayed by the She Cranes during the tournament where they emerged 7th one position ahead of 2015 finish.
She thanked God for the ladies patriotism they have for their nation despite financial difficulties they had “she said.
The promised more financial support towards sport as it gives mirage to the country.
The tournament was won by Newzealand who beat 2015 champions Australia in the finals.
Each player was given one million Uganda shillings as transport refund.
Uganda having finished seventh overall, earn an automatic qualification for the team to the next netball world cup in South Africa come 2021 and is now ranked 6th in the world.
She Cranes next task will be to defend their African title in October.
