Kampala central division mayor Charles Sserunjogi Musoke wants Kampala city divisions to be given 4% of all the money collected in Kampala.
Sserunjogi made this revelation on Tuesday following his nomination at the office of Assistant district registrar Mawanda road Kampala central division who is eying for retaining his seat in the forthcoming general elections 2021.
Sserunjigi was nominated by Electoral commission official Musiime Doreen, who was also proposed by Florence Kiwanuka councillor Kisenyi II and secinded by Deogratius Mbabazi.
In his speech after his nomination, Sserunjogi said that, as it was earlier before, this time round they were given powers and authority as local governments to plan for their areas due to various amendments made in certain laws governing the city which is likely to lead sustainable development, however he also appealed to people concerned to give 4% to each division from all the money collected to enabling them execute their work easily.
“We have not been having powers and authority anciently, but due to amendments made in the law governing the city, we were given authority and powers to execute our work and we expect transparency, accountability and sustainable development,” he said.
In the same vein, Sserunjogi highlighted some of his expectations to tackle next term if all go through well including improving drainage system, floods, infrastructures, taxation, unemployment, wastes and garbage collection among others
Charles Sserunjogi is the incumbent holding Democratic party ticket who is competing with FDC’s Ssemaganda Isah, NRM’s Uhuru Salim among others.
