” Over 25 years that climate change has been on the world’s agenda, global emissions have risen unchecked, plastic pollution is now becoming a global pandemic. In the past 10 years , we have made more plastic than the last century by 2050 the population of fishes will be out numbered by the amount of plastic little in the water bodies “, Kazimba stated.

It is disheartening to note that 300 million tons of plastic gets created yearly , and this weighs the same as the entire human population.

As we commemorate Earth Hour today, let us resolve not only to raise our voices but also take actions for nature recovery and switch off habits such as using plastic bags and bottles and damping them carelessly and refuse to use the single use plastic and reduce the amount of plastic entering in our environment every second and switch off from deforestation and purpose to plant trees to make Uganda green again.

However, protecting and restoring nature is a huge challenge and no single acted can achieve this alone.

We are therefore grateful to WWF , the scouts movement all other players who have joined the government who have rallied all UgandaUgandan to commit to work together on finding and driving the solution in an equitable way, and the plan needed is clear, safeguard our planet’s remaining natural spaces, stop the loss of species and decline of wild life population whilst protecting the diversity of life.

Reversing the loss of nature aalso holds the key to our prosperity and it is the only way to secure livelihoods and the vast majority of our economic activity that dependent on the natural world.

However, time is running out for us to save the planet our only home.
