WOODBALL: Kayongo happy with the turn up of participants for the 2019 President’s Cup.

The Uganda Woodball federation conducted a successful President’s cup event on Sunday 21st July at Mandela National stadium, Namboole for a fourth consecutive year.

Twenty seven (27) teams took part in this year’s tournament, these are UCU, Ndejje ( both men and ladies), MUBS (both men and ladies), Stroke Woodball club (men and women), MUK, Eminence, UNEB, Zoe, Buganda Land Board, Cipla and Kisubi Corporate all participated in the event.

Uganda Woodball Federation President Paul Mark Kayongo was delighted with the overwhelming turn up and urged the participants to continue loving the game as they also think on adding prizes to be won in future.

“I am truly delighted with the overwhelming turn up and i call upon all the participants to continue loving the sport. We just have to boost our preparations in future.

“I also take this opportunity to thank everyone especially government, for the support towards the hosting of 2019 Beach Woodball world cup held in May.

Cipla quality Chemicals claimed the Corporate ladies category with 425 strokes whereas UNEB finished as runners up with 467 strokes and Zoe woodball club who managed 473 strokes finished third.

In the men’s Corporate category, Kisubi Corporate won the champions with 481 strokes, Ndejje Corporate were second with 429 strokes while Cipla finished in third position with 431 strokes.

New woodball club, The Eminence were the winners of the senior girl’s category with 736 strokes, Stroke Woodball Club on 753 strokes claimed second position and Ndejje University were third placed on 763 strokes

Ndejje University are the newly crowned champions in the men’s senior category with 721 strokes, UCU came second on 730 strokes and Makerere University were third with 738 strokes.
