Yassin Nasser wins 2nd consecutive best rally driver as Fortebet Real Stars Awards celebrate 5th Anniversary

Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards continued to reward excellence with their monthly awards held on Tuesday at Lazio Restaurant in Lugogo.

Real stars are celebrating fifth year in promoting Ugandan athletes who have excelled in different sports disciplines.

Six athletes received gongs in six various Sports disciplines for their performances in the concluded month of June.

Cricket Cranes Bowler Henry Ssenyondo, Rally crew of Yassin Nasser/Ali Katumba, Gift Ssebuguzi (Motorcross), Larry Feni (Special Olympics), UPDF’s Edmond Omony (Handball) and Parvin Nangozi (Table Tennis) were named the best of June at the awards sponsored by Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions.

Slow left arm orthodox bowler Ssenyondo was outstanding as Uganda’s Cricket Cranes won the inaugural Continent T20 with four man of the match accolades and finished the tournament as the top most wicket takers with 18. He beat Riazat Ali Shah and Consy Aweko to the gong.

Nangozi won the Korea Friendship Championship in Lugogo. Benjamin Achuma and Sam Ankunda were the other nominees.

Edmond Omonyi, a goalkeeper at UPDF, is the best of June in Handball with his club standing second on the league log.

Omonyi’s stats read 51 saves, three assists and one Steal. He edged Umar Isa (UPDF) and Joyce Namutosi of Kyengeza to the award.

Winner in Special Olympics is Larry Feni – He won two gold medals at concluded Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany. Other nominees were Cleopatra Rhabaha and Praise Odoi.

The crew of Yasin Nasser/Ali Katumba of moil team won the Kabalega Rally to take control of the table with 290 points and 57 points ahead of his rival Duncan Mubiru Kikankane.
In Hoima, Nasser and Katumba, recorded the shortest time of the competitive 113 kilometers in 1 hour, 13 minutes, 02 seconds and 45 micro-seconds.

In Motorcross Gift Ssebuguzi, son to Rally driver Ronald Ssebuguzi is the winner beating Hellen Birungi and Miguel Katende after concluding the fifth round of the Mountain Dew National Motocross championship in Garuga, he collected maximum points in his category of the CC 85 beating the tough competition of Dan Mitima and Jerome Mubiru.
