Early this month, during the release of the Uganda Certificate of Education results for 2023, The Uganda National Examinations Board revealed plans for the opportunity for S.4 candidates who failed their exams to redo, so that they are given a chance to join the next level.

The board had scheduled these exams to be sat in June and July this year for students under the old curriculum and among the students who are to benefit from this opportunity are those who failed the 2023 UNEB exams, those who registered and did not seat for their exams due to unexpected occurrences and those who did not register for the exams due to financial challenges.

The fact that 2023 marked the end of implementing the old curriculum, this is the only chance that students have to redo their exams under the old curriculum.

In the circular letter dated February 27th, UNEB Executive director Mr. Dan Odongo noted that: “Following the Board’s engagement with District Education Officers (DEOs), the Board made further consultations on the modalities for conducting the UCE transition examination under the old curriculum.

“We therefore have adjusted the dates to allow for a smoother process for both sets of students, originally proposed for June/July 2024 and will now be done along with the students under the new curriculum and Registration for these exams will also take place alongside the regular registration for this year’s exams. ” Mr. Odongo said.

“The Minister for Education and Sports has now advised that the period between June and July is too short for the repeaters to prepare and then sit for the examination. “Odongo added.
