Buddo SS beat arch rivals, St Mary’s Boarding SS To Retain Wakiso region schools football boys trophy

The Wakiso District and region Qualifiers climaxed on Saturday at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium Wakiso with two epic finals for boys and Girls Football.

Buddo Secondary School for the third consecutive time proved to St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School that they are the giants of Wakiso District whatsoever.

Buddo SS edged St Mary’s 2-1 in the final hosted on Saturday at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, the final graced by Buganda Kingdom Sports Minister Owek Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu.

Buddo’s goals were scored by Kizza Joseph and Kiriko Denis while that of St Mary’s came from Nsereko Abdul.

The game started on a high note as Kitende asking much questions but Buddo goalkeeper Yiga Ismail kept on from foot to keep Buddo in a game. 

The game kept on growing as Buddo started to fit in the game and created few goal scoring chances.

In the 30th minute, Buddo through switch play they found a space on left flank and Kasada Mathias laid in a killing cross to find Kizza Joseph extremely at the 18  yards edge to Short direct on Enock Luyima who moved his body from the balls direction to easy Kizza’s short beating goalie Luguya Kenneth to make it 1-0 for Buddo.

Kitende got like two half chances in the last five minutes of the first stanza of the game as Buddo getting sat on back foot to maintain their lead.

The game returned with second half and Buddo reacted by introducing Ssebumpenje Yusuf Hajj and Kalema Jimmy though Kitende remained appearing in game control despite they had to worry on Hajj’s threats.

Nearly 20 Minutes of the second half its where Kitende got the advantage by Yiga Ismail opted to stay on goal rather than meeting Orim Nyarwa’s Cross which gave Nsereko Abdulnoor a chance to level the matters at Kyabaggu.

With both teams seemingly getting prepared for spot kicks and there were less than five minutes to final whistle Hajj turned more dangerous with a fine cross to find Kisirikko Denis to tap in and finally won it for Buddo.

The title became the third for Buddo when taking it from Kitende, remembering the 2019 and 2022 finals at the same venue.
