The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has lifted the suspension on matches involving Express FC.

The decision followed a Friday meeting between the FUFA Executive Committee and the members of the Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA) along with the FUFA Referees Standing Committee (FRSC) at FUFA House, Mengo.

The UFRA stand came after suspected Express fans had beaten assistant referee Fahad Sekayuba after their one-all draw with UPDF FC about a fortnight back.

Today, in the presence of Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi the Third FUFA Vice President in charge of UPL, it has been agreed that Express matches that had been affected will be rescheduled.

Express was bound to play rivals SC Villa and Wakiso Giants FC in the last two match-weeks but will now be scheduled at later dates.

The matches that were affected will be rescheduled by the organisers of the Competition. The suspension was as a result of ugly scenes by a section of fans against one of the referees Fahad Sekayuba who handled the Uganda Premier League match between UPDF FC and Express FC on 27th October 2023 in Bombo. He was attacked on his way back to Kampala after the match.

The Objective of the meeting was also to discuss matters on protection of the match officials and integrity of the game with the proper application of the Laws of the Game while corrective measures will be undertaken against those who err.

FUFA also agreed to foot the medical bills of referee Fahad Sekayuba.
