Government of Uganda is set to give away the land for Luzira main prison which is found along the shores of Lake Victoria, to the investors to construct a 5 star hotel.
In the letter written by the President of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the minister of internal affairs Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire, the President directed the Minister to meet the investor for Tian Tang group who proposed a construction of a 5 star hotel on the land where the prison is located. The investor further committed himself that if the President complies to his proposal, he will fund the construction of a new prison for the country.
The president welcomed the proposal and directed Minster Kahinda Otafiire to meet the investor for the government to start engaging in talks with him and also directed the ministry of internal affairs to search for the land where the investor can construct the new prison.
In this case, Minister Kahinda Otafiire has written to the Attorney General of the Republic of Uganda to meet with him and discuss about the issue about the land in Buikwe which the ministry is eying.
