Rogers Mato’s goal was not enough to secure maximum point for cabbage collectors, KCCA FC, as they dropped crucial points against Maroons FC in a 1 all draw on Saturday at Lugogo.

Mato headed home at the end of half time to level matters to ensure that his side picked up a point on the day.

Fred Amaku had earlier put Maroons ahead early in the 8th minute of the game.

The draw leaves KCCA in the 2nd position, a point behind SC Villa who have played two games more.

For Maroons FC, it was a vital point for them more so in an enemy territory. They moved to 26 points and are in the eighth position on the log.

On Saturday, the visitors Maroons earned a dream start when Amaku put them ahead in the 8th minute of the game.

But despite conceding first, KCCA remained composed and made various attempts in search for an equaliser.

Peter Magambo came close but his header went just wide off Allan Okello’s good delivery from a corner.

And finally, KCCA’s endless efforts paid off at the stroke of half time through Mato, who headed in home off a perfect delivery from Okello.

In the second stanza, it was all about KCCA as they searched for a winner.

Okello was twice denied by an outstanding Maroons goalkeeper Simon Tamale, who was later named the man of the match.

Substitutes Julius Poloto and Moses Waiswa tried to bring in some life to KCCA’s attacking line but failed to find a breakthrough.

KCCA now remain second on the log, a point below leaders SC Villa, who have played two games more. And the Morley Byekwaso coached side will be seeking to bounce back in the upcoming fixtures as they seek to reclaim their leadership on the top.

For Maroons FC, it was a big result for them in their quest to finish in a better position this season. They moved to 26 points in the 8th position.
