Minister Kaboyo hands over hand hoes to Busoga region

Minister of Luwero triangle and Rwenzori region Hon Alice Kaboyo challenged the youth in Busoga region to use the hand hoes she delivered to them to work hard during their youthful age so that they can be able to prepare for their future and overcome poverty which is rampant in the region.

She mentioned this as she was delivering over 52,746 hand hoes worth 580 million shillings to Busoga region at a function that took place at Busoga square in Jinja city on 8/05/2024.

Hon. Kaboyo noted that Busoga is very fertile and has favourable farming environment thereby urging the youth to make good use of it for their own financial development.

She encouraged people in the waterlogged areas such as Bugiri and Mayuge districts to grow palm oil trees under guidance as they can replace pine trees to avoid environmental degradation.

However, she called upon Ministers, leaders and people in Busoga region to join hands and engage government to increase Busoga affairs budget.

The Chairman for the regions Chairpersons Elijah Kagoda expressed concern over the way the youth from Busoga move to urban centres looking for jobs and expressed hope that the hand hoes will attract them to engage in agriculture which will be productive.

Jinja RDC Richard Gulume arged the people in this region against hiring their land for sugarcane plantation which has led to food insecurity in the region.
