Stanbic Uganda Cup 50th edition round of 64 draws held. Sponsors commended for the support

Reaching the 50th edition with the massive growth been examined in previous years of partnership of Uganda FA brand Uganda Cup and sponsor Stanbic Bank.

The competition which initially had 80 competitors in 2017 has witnessed a growth to over 300 participants along the way partnering Stanbic Bank.

While making his remarks, Rogers Mulindwa commended Stanbic Bank and Plascon Uganda for accepting to walk the first half together.

“I want to commend Stanbic Bank and Plascon Uganda for accepting to walk the first half together. We have enjoyed your company. And as we embark on the second half, I want us to continue together.” Rogers Mulindwa, FUFA Executive Committee Member

It is our obligation as FUFA to stage a well organised tournament that reflects the support being given. Stanbic Bank and Placon Uganda are partners in football development and I urge you to give them the support they need.” Rogers Mulindwa added.

Growth on prizes has also witnessed as this year’s edition will see winners scooping 50,000,000 Uganda shillings and close to 200 millions is up to share among participants.

The FUFA Competitions Director Hajati Aisha Nalule highlighted that the number of teams that participated in the preliminary stage was 312. And of those, 33 teams are joining the 31 from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and betPawa Big League to make a total of 64.

With the draw of the round of 64 being held at Sheraton hotel Kampala on Monday 15th January 2024.
Marking the 50th edition with a recall to serve as 1971 competition winners with Coffee FC in Ismael Birunji Minola and John Bosco Lubogo conducting the draw which saw defending Champions Vipers Sports Club returning to former home .

Viper SC will start tittle defending task visiting Lugazi Stars at Buikwe play ground once a home to Vipers and the ground still owned by Viper SC owner.
Lugazi Stars is among the 33 lower division club that came out of 312 teams that embraced the preliminary rounds across the 8 regions to join the star times Uganda premier league clubs and Bet Pawa Big league clubs at round of 64.

Making 32 fixtures taking action between 18th – 31 January 2024 with lower division clubs handed a chance to host top clubs which may offer them a high chance of making good money through entrance fee.
