Uganda move two places up on the latest World Netball rankings

The Uganda Women’s national netball team, the She Cranes have been lifted from eighth to sixth on the released World World netball rankings.

The She Cranes have accumulated 4,224 points with a 128 rating, as per World Netball.

Uganda is now ranked second in Africa from third after South Africa, who are number one. Malawi have taken Uganda’s former position.

It should be remembered that in January, the She Cranes competed and fairly acquitted themselves in the Test Series and the Vitality Netball Nations Cup in Wales and England, respectively.

In the Test Series, the She Cranes won by a 2-1 aggregate win over the Welsh Feathers after three games.

They then lost to each of Australia, New Zealand and England, three of the finest sides in the world.

Australia are ranked number one in the world, with New Zealand and England following respectively.

Last year, the She Cranes finished fifth and first, globally and in Africa, respectively, at the Netball World Cup played in South Africa.

The rankings now include all matches played since the 1st July 2020, with those played in the last year, since the 1st March 2023, weighted at 100%, and matches between the 1st July 2020 and 28th February 2023 now weighted at 50%.

Matches played between 1st July 2019 and 30th June 2020, including those played at the Vitality Netball World Cup 2019, have been dropped from the WN World Rankings.
