UGANDA NATIONAL BADMINTON TEAM FLAGGED OFF FOR UBER AND THOMAS CUP

The eight team members have been flagged-off today this morning, at NCS complex, Lugogo. The team is comprised of four boys and four boys plus two coaches.

The team will compete in continental qualification for the World badminton Championships which will be held in China in April, 2024.

The Ladies team will compete in Uber cup while the Men’s team will compete in Thomas cup which will start from 12-18 of this month.

The men’s team will play three singles and two doubles as also in ladies team and team to qualify for the World badminton Championships, it needs three wins out of five .

The flag-off ceremony was attended by James Kasumba, an official from NCS , Simon Mugabi, CEO of Uganda badminton association and Mohammed Rafi, chairman of finance committee.

“Have confidence in the team, i know the worse will be silver”, Kasumba states.

Simon commonly known as coach said that the team is in good mood and we expect medals only from them.

The traveling team comprises of, Muzafaru Lubega, Amos Muyanja as men’s captain, Expendito Emmundu, Augustus Owiny in boys team while ladies team comprises of, Gladys Mbabazi as ladies team, Tracy Naluwooza, Husina Kobugabe and Fadila Shamika Mohammed.

William Kabindi and Ivan Kalimunda will act as coaches.

” Have been training in Malaysia and am in good shape to bring back gold medal”, Shamika states.
